For over 100 years, people have been enjoying bowls at Penzance Bowling Club. Formed in 1911, it was affiliated to the England Bowling Association in 1912. The Cumberland turf green was laid in 1933 and the green still stands as one of the best in West Cornwall.
We have 3 Men’s Teams who compete in league matches and a similar number of Ladies Teams.
Additionally, we have numerous friendly matches, both home and away throughout the season and club competitions which culminate in finals day at the end of the season.
The outdoor season runs from mid April to mid September.
From October to March, a short mat is put down in the clubhouse and all full members are welcome to play for a small fee which covers the heating and a cup of tea.
The club currently has two afternoon triples teams in the West Area Leagues and we are usually very successful.
If you are new to bowls, come and have a go. Contact either the secretary or the chairperson whose details are below, and we will arrange to meet you at the green and “show you the ropes”.
All you need are a pair of flat soled shoes and we will provide the rest.
Experienced bowlers are always welcome, just give us a ring and arrange to meet us at the Green.
Visiting bowlers can play on the green for a small fee. You will need to have your own shoes and woods.
